Sugar hair removal or sugaring is a mixture of sugar, lemon, and water mixed together to create a sticky paste that clings to the hair. The process effectively removes the hair and many report that it is less uncomfortable than wax and gentler on the skin. Sugaring has always been considered the most effective, less painful, natural form of hair removal. Our sugar paste is made of just sugar, lemon & water! Sugaring is known to prevent ingrown hairs making it the ideal way to remove all unwanted hair.
There won't be a strip of paper to remove the sugar. We apply the sugar paste in the opposite direction of the hair growth, which allows the paste to enter the follicle and wrap around each hair shaft individually. They with a flicking motion we remove the paste, along with the hair, in the natural direction of hair growth.
For most people with sensitive skin, the answer is YES. But just in case, here is a list of contraindications. Showing signs of rashing, open and or abraded skin, active lesion of Herpes Simplex I/II, or sunburn cannot receive sugaring services. Anyone using Accutane within the past 6 months, Retin A, Renova, Differin, or Avita within the past 5 days. Anyone having just received dermabrasion or a peel cannot be sugared in the area that has been treated.
To get the best service we require that you have no less than 2.5 weeks of growth after your last shave. You must have no less than 3 weeks of hair growth after your last sugar or wax.
Do not exfoliate the area being sugared 24 hours prior to your appointment. Arrive to your appointment with clean skin, no lotion or oils. Please do not consume stimulants of any kind prior to sugaring.
Your home care is simple. Medical experts advise waiting 24 hours after a Brazilian to get intimate with a partner. Avoid exposing your sugared skin to sweat, sun, hot tubs, pools and cosmetic products with fragrance for 12 hours.
Ideally you should be moisturizing 2x a day/exfoliating every other day the week before receiving your spray tan. Massages, facials, mani + pedis should be done 24 hrs prior to your spray. You can book your sugaring service (this is not soft/hard waxing) prior to your tan.
Shower and exfoliate 6-24 hrs prior to your appointment. If you end up showering less than 6 hrs in advance, please end your shower with a COLD rinse. Note that showering 6 hrs or less prior to your tan could possibly cause a streaky or spotty tan.
No products after your shower! You want to avoid applying any type of deodorant, lotion or beauty products before a spray tan. They will prevent the spray tan formula from sticking to your skin.
Women, you do not need to wear underwear for your spray tan. If you would like to wear underwear we recommend bringing a black thong. We sell disposables as well.
Bring dark, loose-fitting clothes to change into after your spray tan. Open-toed shoes like flip-flops are best. Please no denim, yoga pants, or bras. If it is raining or could possibly rain, wear closed toed shoes, bring an umbrella and cover your body from head to toe.
We will go over shower time with you. Though each tan is customized, you can expect to rinse (no soap) anywhere between 2-7 hours, depending on the outcome desired. When you rinse, it can look like all your color is missing. DON'T PANIC! You will be fully developed by 24hrs.
While Get Glowing does sell what we recommend using, let's talk about what to avoid!
In order to ensure a flawless tan, it is crucial that you prep (and maintain when possible) with tan-safe products only. While some of these products are natural and safe, that doesn’t mean they are tan-friendly. Below is a list of over-the-counter products you most definitely want to avoid
If you find yourself using these products, discontinue use a minimum of 24 hrs prior to your tan. If you have products you bought elsewhere, feel free to reachout to see if your products are tan safe.
pH Primer spray is a must-have, especially for first time tanning clients. It's like a perfecting coat for your skin before getting a spray tan. We include this in your tan since it balances your skins pH, minimizes any oil or soap residue that can mess with your tan. pH primer also helps extend the life of your tan. Say goodbye to uneven fading and hello to long-lasting, even bronzed skin—every single time. You will experience a difference!
Contouring is an advanced technique for spray tanning. The contouring is done before applying the full-body spray tan and involves using a darker shade of tanner to highlight and define an individual's muscles and structural bones. The approach always varies depending on the client's individual muscle build and physique. The key objective of contouring is to enhance and emphasize existing features—we're not trying to create new features here!
Your service should take no more than 15 minutes. In most cases your rinse time is between 2-7 hrs depending on the outcome desired. Most clients can expect to rinse between 3hrs and 5hrs. Some clients opt for a full 8hrs though this is not recommended your first time. Full development takes around 18-24hrs.

Solution travels, we wipe your palms down after your service but when you touch your face, legs, arms with your hands the solution will transfer even if it doesn't look like it. Please be aware of skin-to-skin contact. If you find yourself with unnatural-looking palms, apply a thin layer of oil, soak them in warm water for 10 minutes, then use an exfoliating mitt in the area you desire removal. We also sell a tan prep/remover body wash that is perfect to help combat this issue.
When you get a tan for your vacation try to come in 1 day prior. Though you have a "tan" remember it is faux and you will get darker in the sun. Always wear sun protection so that you do not burn. Even the lightest of sunburns (before or after) can cause your tan to start to flake off.
